Easy Rustic Star

Rustic Star Ornament

Ho ho ho!  Is it starting to feel like Christmas where you are?  I know that many places have started to see snow on the ground.  I love the first snowfall!  We haven’t had any snow here yet but I am hoping that we get some before Christmas because after Christmas I just want it all to melt and hurry into spring and summer *wink*.

The boys and I had fun creating these Easy Rustic Stars, this really is the perfect craft for kids!  Let me show you what we did…

How cute would these look on the mantel or hanging from the tree?!  We plan on using them on our gift wrapping and just fastening them to parcels with bakers twine.

Materials:

wooden stars {found at Michaels}

scrap pieces of festive fabric

white acrylic paint

mod podge

Cam and Isaiah began by painting the outside of the star white.  Then they cut a star shape out of fabric and glued it to the center of the wooden piece with mod podge.  I had a star template created that they used to trace the shape onto fabric before cutting.  I also closely supervised them and had them use my sharp sewing scissors to cut clean, straight lines in the fabric.

Cute right?!  And made by seven year olds!  I absolutely love the passion and interest that my kids show in crafts.  I guess that it helps that they have a crafty mommy right?  I hope that they always think outside of the box and colour outside of the lines.

Are you doing any Christmas crafting?
