One of my favorite Halloween characters is Jack Skellington. He is just such a classic and the Nightmare Before Christmas?! Awesome! We’ve shared our Jack Skellington Front Door, Jack Skellington cupcakes and even a Jack Skellington crochet hat in the past. So when I needed to come up with a last minute treat for class and realized that all I had in the house were oreos and white chocolate, I knew just what to make…
How adorable are these little skeletons right?! They were actually a bit trickier to make than I thought that they would be so let me show you how I did it.
I learned quickly that you have to use a bit of melted chocolate to “glue” the lollipop stick into place. Otherwise the oreos just slide off of the stick when dipping them into the chocolate. Oh! I found these uber delicious peppermint “oreos” at Walmart.. they are so good! I see a Christmasy treat in our future too *wink*.
Place the stick in between the two halves of the oreo with some chocolate glue and allow them to set for about five minute in the fridge.
Next dip the oreo in melted white chocolate. I used Wilton candy melts. I spooned the chocolate over the cookie and spread it about with the back of a spoon. I am not sure how other makers get their cookie pops to look so smooth because this was the most challenging part for me. Maybe there is a “cookie pop maker” out there in baking land? I don’t know.
I put the cookies into the fridge to set for ten minutes. I used this FABulous matte candy writer from Duff that can be found at Walmart. I love this writer! It doesn’t bleed or change colours like other piping gels.
Face drawing fun!
Just a quick mouth, nostrils and eyes have Jack coming to life.
Here are all of our Jacks ready to head to class. “Head” to class… hee hee.
Have you been doing any last minute Halloween creating?! Please tell me that I am not the only one…
