Monster Murals

I’m often asked if I paint my own murals… why yes, yes I do! And here’s a quickie tutorial for you!

I’d like to introduce you to one of the first Monster Murals that I have created for the boys’ birthday… Ike! You can find more of my murals here and here.

Invest in a roll of paper ~ you wont regret it ~ you can find cheap roll ends at most newpaper offices.

I start with a quick pencil sketch {I’ll often pull up images from Bing for inspiration}

Then I begin to add colour to my image.

I use acrylic paint {it’s very forgiving} ~ any brand will do.

After adding my colour ~ the key is really outlining with black {or a darker colour}.

I then cut him out and add some serious personality to my party!

Monster kiss from Cameron…

and another from Isaiah!

It’s all about them after all! Have a wonderful day guys!

    Your monsters are very cute! I agree a roll of paper is really useful. Another thing you might try is painting them on a piece of canvas or drop cloth with a bit of textile medium mixed in. That way when your done with the mural you can back it with another piece of canvas and make it into a pillow they can save. Your designs are too cute to throw away!!

    I love the pictures of your boys kissing them. My twin boys are 15 now – I miss those moments sometimes…they grow up too fast 🙂
