Warehouse Pendant Light

I had a blast repurposing an old industrial lamp recently and am excited to show you the results!  Last spring I found this epic Mid Century Modern Danish Teak antique for our dining room and have been having fun styling it since then.  I have to admit that it has been challenging, interior design is certainly not my calling although I do love it!  I decided that we needed a funky new light for the space and came up with this Warehouse Pendant Light.  Totally custom, totally DIY.

I love, love, love this colour!  It pulls the blue and white tones from the shelving display into the lighting and ties everything together.

This is where I started.  I found this awesome, one of a kind, industrial lamp at a local vintage shop called Zangbell & Gill.  If you are in the Okanagan area then I highly recommend that you check them out!  They have the coolest furniture and home decor items that you will not find anywhere else.  You can follow Zangbell & Gill on Facebook too – they are truly the nicest couple!  Anyway I knew that I wanted to create a pendant light and took the lamp apart.  I have the awesome stand saved for another project.  I primed and painted the interior and exterior of the warehouse light with spray paint.

Then I took apart the porceline fixtures.

Then I re-wired it using a pendant light that I had found on discount at Home Sense.  I basically just threaded the wiring through the top of the warehouse fixture and re-attached it to the porceline fixtures that held the lightbulb.

Finally I put hanging the pendant light and wiring it to the house on Darcy’s to do list because “handy” only goes so far with me.  I don’t want “handy” to include “easily electrocuted”.

I like to think that it turned out pretty rad and really suits the space.  I mean how cool is it to have an antique Warehouse Pendant Light complementing your antique Mid Century Modern Danish Teak wall unit?!  Seriously cool if you ask me.
