Chocolate Kahlua Cake with Chocolate Kahlua Ganache

This cake is drool worthy.  First date worthy.  Cheat on our diets worthy.
Worthy of every. single. little. calorie.
My pops had a birthday recently and being that he is a lover of chocolate {and Kahlua of course} I thought that this would be the perfect cake for him!
I love baking in a bundt pan.  Everything just looking more posh I think.  More professional and put together.  What’s your take on it?  Maybe it’s just the Kahlua talking so here we go…

The cake:
515 g box of Devil’s Food cake mix
113 g box instant chocolate pudding
4 eggs
500 ml sour cream
1/2 cup apple sauce
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup Kahlua
150 g mini chocolate chips
The ganache:
1/2 cup whipping cream
150 g mini chocolate chips
1/2 oz Kahlua
Lets start with the cake…


Mix the wet ingredients with an electric mixer until well combined.  About one minute on high.


Slowly add the dry ingredients and mix until well incorporated, about two minutes on medium.  Fold in the chocolate chips.


Pour the batter into a greased bundt pan.


Bake at 350° for 55 to 60 minutes.


While the cake is cooling lets make the ganache.  Place the chocolate chips into a medium bowl.  In a medium saucepan bring the cream just to a boil.  Watch it closely and when the cream comes to a boil immediately pour it over the chocolate chips.


Whisk the cream and chocolate together.  Add the Kahlua and give it a stir.  Slowly drizzle and pour the mixture over the entire cake.

Um.  Wow.

So good.

My dad and I stole this piece before we even ate dinner.

For a “photo shoot”  hee hee.
My mom busted us in the kitchen, grabbed a fork and joined in the pre-birthday cake.
