Crafting – Shaker Sticks

One of my little men, Isaiah, loves sticks! They are pretty much the only thing that he is interested in… well that and snails 😛 So here’s a quick shaker stick tutorial…. I thought that I’d dress up his favorite thing!

A finished stick.

I pruned a bunch of deciduous trees in the back yard (they have a smoother bark than most conifers). The finished shaker stick is one that I purchased at a craft fair.

You will need sticks, containers (I would loved to have used plastic Easter eggs but they seem to disappear – along with the Cadbury cream eggs – after Easter), beans or rice, casting material and paint.
~Update: you can find casting material at any large craft store (I found mine at Michaels) or at medical supply stores. ~

Fill the container with rice or beans and hot glue to stick.

Use casting material to cover top of shaker.
