Hello friends! I have gone all out decorating for the Holidays this year. I mean, if you follow me on Instagram you would know, I even decorated my bedroom! I just want to hunker down and live in this winter wonderland all season. Let me show you the new Oh Holy Night sign that I created this year…
I’m really happy with the way that it turned out! I didn’t really have a plan, just a board from Michaels that had been white washed already. I also had bits of evergreen swag and holiday floral picks ready to go.
The blank wooden sign from Michaels measured approx. 14″ x 30″. Believe it or not I FREE HANDED the lettering! My craft room is still a mess from a flood in my basement a while ago and digging out my cutting machine would take some serious effort. So I simply drew “oh holy night” on the sign with chalk and then painted over it. I think that it looks ok. I’m sure that the lines and script would be much cleaner and more uniform with a stencil or cutting machine but this was a quick and easy alternative! I sanded the paint a bit when it was dry to give it more of a distressed look.
The swag is a combination of fake evergreens, floral picks, pinecones from my yard and battery operated twinkly lights. The lights are from Walmart and have an automatic timer set to turn on from 4-10pm. Perfect! No way was I going to climb up to turn lights on above my door every night! I’ve used these battery operated lights all over my house and love that they automatically turn on when it begins to get dark outside. The house automatically becomes a beacon of festivity.
I may have to tackle more signs soon… and dig out my cutting machine! Or just buy a new one on sale *wink*…

Great job – the whitewash with the contrast of the greens looks very pretty. Free hand painting looks great too!
