Paint Inspiration

We were talking about paint colours last night during Pinspired Projects.
Wouldn’t it be fun to be the person who gets to name a paint colour?

We moved into our home over six years ago and have never changed the main paint colour.
I love it.  It’s neutral enough to go with all of our decor.  The colour carries throughout
our living room, hallway, master bedroom and entire basement.

Its called Oak Buff by General Paint {7752W}.
It’s a lovely warm butter colour, with a yellow tone.
You can see examples from our master bedroom makeover, quatrefoil wall reveal, and a video tour here.

I have decided to paint our dining room and kitchen {again}.
The burnt orange {Ground Nutmeg from Behr} colour is gorgeous but after living with it for almost a year,
it hard to incorporate into my seasonal decorating.

It’s perfect for fall and winter but too dark for spring and summer in my opinion.  And our buffet, where I put  most of our seasonal nick knacks, backs onto it.  It is hard to decorate when the backdrop is always orange.

I would like something darker than our Oak Buff walls but still neutral.
So I was sorting through our paint this week and found a small can that had been used by the previous owners for our main bathroom.  We have never had to repaint the main bath, so I had forgotten about it.

After checking out the bathroom, I think that this would be the perfect colour to accent our dining room and kitchen!   It’s called Safari Tan by General Paint {7754 M} and is a couple of shades darker than Oak Buff. Here’s the colour chart although these colours are more creamy yellow in real life.

I am so excited {and relieved} to find a colour that I know will work with what is already going on in our home!  Now I can’t wait to get painting.

Do you find picking the right paint colour challenging or is it just me?
