Project Crochet Update

Hi y’all!
Have you had a chance to join us for Project Crochet?
I hope that you will!  It’s been so fun to see what everyone is up to.  And remember if you don’t know how to crochet but have always wanted to, you can always follow my Learn To Crochet series.  Now here is where I am at with my Seafarer Blanket…
I ordered all of my yarn from Herrschners online.  I deviated from the pattern {found at Michaels} a bit by using Bernat Softee Chunky yarn.  I wanted a thicker blanket that would {hopefully} work up faster.  By using bulkier yarn I modified the pattern to start with fewer chain stitches and fewer colours of yarn.  The colours that I chose are:  teal, eucalyptus, grass, sea green, new denim, hot blue, ultra blue, royal blue and faded denim.  I labelled them all with letters to keep track of the order I wanted to crochet them in.

This was after just 30 minutes of crochet!  I am not know to be a fast crocheter so I was super happy to see so much progress so quickly!

Progress after a couple of days of evening crochet.

I am about half way done and I have to say that I absolutely love this pattern!  It looks gorgeous and is fast and easy to crochet!  #whoop

I have a question about the pattern of the “seafares blanket” I am on row 4 and the pattern says there will be two stitches at the end of the row to dc2tg instead of the 3tg. Which I did in row 2. Then it says chain 2 and turn and then when you get to the end of that row I have 3 stitches instead of 2. So I went ahead and dc3tg and chained 2 and turned like the pattern says. But after chaining the 2 I’m gaining stitches at the end of each row and not having just the 2 stitches left like I’m supposed to. If this makes any sense to you could you explain what I’m doing wrong?
Thank you so much in advance!!!!
