S’more Smores T-shirt Tutorial

smore t-shirt  Hey there!
If you’ve been around awhile then you know that we love camping.  Heck, we had our very own indoor camp out back in January just because we missed it so much!  So I wanted to create something for the boys to wear.  To help celebrate the season.  Bring on summer!
s'more t-shirt Enter the S’more Smores t-shirt.  I found an image here and used it as my jumping off point for this fun shirt.  {Of course I made one for each of the boys ~ little miss matchy matchy}.
Plain t-shirt {pre-shrunk}
Piece of white fabric and iron on interfacing
Tulip fabric markers
Tulip dimensional fabric paint {puffy paint}
Tulip soft fabric paint
Freezer paper
April 2012 487I began by sketching an image onto the white fabric {with interfacing ironed onto the back}.   April 2012 489Then I added more color and details with Tulip fabric markers. April 2012 492Next I created smore features using Tulip puffy paint.   April 2012 493 While the smore guys dried, I used my Cricut to create this freezer paper stencil “S’more Smores!”  April 2012 495
Then I filled in the stencil using Tulip soft fabric paint. I needed about three coats of white paint on this navy t-shirt.April 2012 497I allowed both the smore guys and the stencilled letters to dry completely before pinning the white fabric to the t-shirt.   smores t-shirtUsing a 1/8 inch seam, I attached the cartoon image to the t-shirt. DIY camping t-shirtLooks like these boys need s’more smores please! smoreshirtcollageAnd a perfect photo op!
If I could create these again I would make the white rectangle of fabric about 1/2 inch smaller all the way around but that’s about it.  Seriously fun t-shirts that are totally us.
